Kytie's Quilt

My sister, Kytie, is getting married on Friday. I wanted to make them a quilt, but it took a while to decide what colors and stuff. There is a line from Moda called Make Life by Sweetwater. It has a fabric that has words on it that says things like, " Make Life Exciting, Make Life Simple, Make Life Fun, Make Life Silly..." There are a lot of different ones. It is really cute and I think it suits them well and here are the colors:

I made it 80" x 90". It took me about 5 hours to put it all together and then I decided to quilt it myself. I got 4 spools of thread to begin with of the color I chose. I got through about 3 rows with that much. So I went to another Joann store and got 7 more. After using those up I was only about halfway done. Two other stores didn't have any then one in Salt Lake had 5 and the other one 4. Luckily I finished up with a half of a spool leftover.
This is what the quilting looks like. After a little while of quilting I wished that I didn't start something so busy and so much to do I wished that I had done it simpler. But now that its done I absolutely love and wouldn't ever change it.

Okay well that is my masterpiece, its the biggest thing that I have ever done and I am so proud of myself that I did it on my little machine because it was kind of hard. Now I feel like I could quilt pretty much anything so I'll just keep doing it and getting better until one day someone wants to give me a Long Arm Machine! I can only wish...

Zack is Home!

Zack was scheduled to return home last Wednesday. He had a flight from Sofia Bulgaria to Vienna Austria and then to Washington DC. From Washington DC he was going to Denver and staying Tuesday night in Denver and flying to Salt Lake the next morning. Well when he was in Washington DC, the flight to Denver got cancelled because they were having terrible snow storms in Denver. They finally got a flight and were going to make the flight on Wednesday morning to home but they had just boarded the plane and were shutting the doors and they wouldn't let Zack and his companions on. The next flight they could get on was at 2 in the afternoon. Zacks whole family and us were anxious so we showed up to the airport around 2:30 and planned on waiting till he got there. We had to find a wheelchair for Shelby at the airport and find out what terminal to go to. We staked out a spot to wait and a few minutes later Jackie's phone rang. It was Zack saying that he wasn't on the airplane, that there was something wrong with the plane so they de-boarded everyone and were waiting to get on a different flight. So we waited at the airport another 2 hours and it was okay. We people watched and walked around with Allie and Marlee. It got to be pretty close to what time his plane was landing and Brad figured out that we were in the wrong terminal. So we ran over to the other one and waited again with our signs.
Me and Brad made some in Bulgarian. One says Welcome Home Elder Bingham, and the other says I love you! Good Day.
Zack was a little teaser. We could see him coming down the hallway, and he stopped to "tie his shoe"!!! Jackie was so MAD!!! It took him even longer for us to wait for him to come and he is stalling! But she was the first to get a hug:

And here is the camera man getting a hug:

And his biggest fan of course:

She has missed him so much and she is really excited for him to come live with us while he goes to Weber State this semester.
Last week on Brads day off we went up and painted the old cement plant building for Zack, so we stopped on the way home for a picture.

We had some fun family gatherings that night and then Zack showed us some stuff and brought out some souvenirs. THIS has to be the best one:

We hung out the next day after he got home and then Friday night he went on a road trip with another companion to California to see one of another guy on his mission speak at his church. He seems to be really good, he is funny to talk to because in Bulgaria they nod their head side to side for yes and up and down for no so its opposite of here. It is really confusing because he will say yes out of his mouth but no with his head.

Today was April Fools so we had a funny dinner. Shephards pie in a pie dish and spaghetti and meatballs cupcakes. Allie had fun helping me make them

Marlee really enjoyed it too, I think the cupcakes were her favorite!
